TERMS OF USE

A clear agreement for civic participation.

Effective August 12, 2026

These Terms govern your use of True Democracy. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Statement.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old, currently reside in Colorado, and be able to enter a binding agreement. Provide accurate information, keep access to your email secure, maintain only one account for yourself, and promptly update information that changes.

What this service is—and is not

True Democracy is an independent civic-engagement project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any government agency, election authority, elected official, or political party. It is not an official voter-registration service or election system. Using it does not register you to vote, cast a ballot in a public election, contact an official on your behalf, or create a legally binding instruction to a representative.

Constituent responses about legislation are advisory expressions on this platform. They are not official votes, election ballots, polls using a representative sample, or binding instructions, and they may not represent every constituent in a district. Results must not be described as the position of all Colorado voters or all residents of a district.

Advisory participation

Eligible participants may select support or oppose on active or completed federal, state, or county measures made available by the service. You may maintain only one response per measure, but may change or remove it. You agree not to manipulate totals through duplicate accounts, automation, false residency information, coordinated technical interference, or other deceptive means. True Democracy may exclude suspected fraudulent activity from aggregate reporting.

Aggregate results are displayed only after a minimum participation threshold and may eventually be shared with relevant representatives or the public. We do not promise that a representative will view, acknowledge, or act on a result.

Acceptable use

Do not impersonate another person; create duplicate or automated accounts; submit false residency or credential information; probe, disrupt, scrape, reverse engineer, or bypass the service’s security; introduce malicious code; or use the service in violation of law or another person’s rights.

Representative and legislative information

District assignments, officeholder information, bill summaries, and congressional results come from government or other third-party sources. We aim for accuracy but do not guarantee that every item is complete, current, or error-free. Official government records control when there is a conflict.

Privacy

Our Privacy Statement describes how we handle personal information. You agree that we may process information as described there to operate and secure the service.

Availability, changes, and suspension

The service may change, pause, or end at any time. We may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law, investigate misuse, or enforce these Terms. We will provide notice when practical.

Intellectual property and feedback

The service, branding, design, and original content are owned by True Democracy or its licensors. You may use the service only for personal, noncommercial civic participation. If you send feedback, you grant us permission to use it without obligation to you.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” to the fullest extent permitted by law. We disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, True Democracy and its personnel will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of data, opportunity, or goodwill arising from the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law and changes

Colorado law governs these Terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. We may update the Terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be identified by a new effective date and, when appropriate, direct notice. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
